#ManiMonday Allure x Butter London Arm Candy + Giveaway

Butter London Arm candy Post

In case you missed my last couple of posts, I have been really into this limited edition nail polish collection that the Allure beauty editors have designed for Butter London called Arm Candy*. The colors are definitely a great addition for Fall/Winter, and the formulas are very easy to work with (and you know it’s true, when a non-skilled nail painter like me says it). I gathered up some swatches and I was pleased to see that these nail polishes dry quickly, so I did not have to wait too long in between each coat.

In case you’re not familiar with Butter London, they were one of the first companys to go 3-free (Dibutyl Phtalate, Formaldehyde, and Toluene–also called the toxic trio), and they recently lauched a 10-free formula (no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, or xylene) which you can check out here.

Back to the Arm Candy collection, here are the swatches:

Nude Stilettos

Butter London Nude Stilettos Text

Nude Stilettos is a sheer nude, that veers more toward a peachy nude. It applies easily and dries fast, but it looks a bit streaky, even after two coats. The third coat evens it out a bit. It makes my nails look prettier and is very shiny. I like it for when I want a true nude, barely there mani.

I’m on the list

Butter London I'm on the list Text

I’m on the list is a metallic rose gold color that is opaque in one coat. After applying it, I find that I need to quickly go over it with a top coat to even out the strokes, but once I do that it looks pretty good. While I am not naturally drawn towards colors with shimmer or metallic effects like this one, it is the one that looks the best on my nails. The metallic effect gives lots of shine and looks great with yellow/rose gold jewelry.  One of my favorites of this collection.

It’s vintage

I am afraid that this photo does not do it justice, but It’s vintage is a beautiful, rusty brown. Can we agree that this is the perfect shade of brown for Fall?! It’s opaque in one coat, but I added a second one anyway. In my humble opinion, gorgeous.

Lust or must?

Lust or Must? is my second favorite of the collection. Although I find that dark colors don’t look too great on my nails (tiniest nail bed, unfortunately, so they make my nails look super small). This is a really chic, dark khaki brown. Opaque in one coat, shiny, just beautiful. If you are into dark nail lacquers, I find this one to be very unique.

Statement Piece

Statement Piece is a fiery, shiny, orange-red cream. It’s opaque in one coat and applies so beautifully! One of the best reds I own.

Disco Nap

Butter London Disco Nap Text

Disco Nap is a glittery charcoal with a lot of texture to it. It reminds me of the Zoya Pixie Dust in Dahlia, but that one has a more fine glitter, while Disco Nap has a lot more texture to it. I don’t do any silver (it just clashes with my skin tone), so it’s probably the only one that I will not get much use out of. If silver goes well with your skin tone, this is a lovely, fun shade and it was surprisingly easy to remove (some nail polishes with texture/glitter can be a pain to take off!).

Overall, I can totally tell that this collection was designed by beauty editors. Great, great colors and good formula. Longevity varies depending on the shade. I found I’m on the list to show tip wear much quicker than the other shades, unfortunately. Also, these really did not chip on me (could be because I topped them with my usual Priti NYC Speedy Dry Top Coat). The collection is limited edition and will be available until March 2016. You can shop it here.
