Weekend Catch-Up #18

Kahina Fez, MUN Toner, Kahina Giving Beauty Review, Kahina Fez Review, Mun Beauty Review, Pantone Marsala, Thoughtfully Mag

I hope you’re all enjoying the Holiday preparations. At GG headquarters we are not feeling very festive yet, as we are currently moving and all we can think about is packing, cleaning, and unpacking. We don’t even have a Christmas tree up (yet?). Hopefully we will be done by the end of this week, which should also allow me to post more regularly.

Enough with the rambling! Here’s the best from the past week…

Empties. I just ran out of the MUN Rejuvenating Toner* (yep, it was gone quickly, and no, I didn’t drink it). The formula is simple, but I enjoyed it. I have a few other face mists to try next and a few ones to use up first, but I will most likely repurchase this one in the future. Review coming soon!

Purchases. In my last catch-up post I told you that my remaining Kjaer Weis mascara refill is turning 4 months old soon so I purchased the Antonym Mascara that I mentioned. I have not received it yet, so I will keep you posted about it. I hope it’s a good one! It certainly is more affordable. You can find it here.

On My List. I have been using different products to keep my hands moisturized, but I have missed the Kahina Fez Hand & Body Balm* so much that I have decided to purchase one (probably taking advantage of the sale I listed below). It is very expensive for the amount, but everything about it, from the formula to the scent, is just so lovely. In case you are not familiar with the scent of Fez, it is quite intense, spicy, woodsy, and exotic; yet I find it relaxing at night before going to bed. Most importantly it is a fantastic treatment that repairs my hands overnight. If you don’t mind spending a little extra cash on it, it is one of my favorite products of 2014 and I am going to get some more asap.

About that supplement. In my last post I told you about a supplement that has helped my skin and I received comments, emails, and messages asking more information about it. I was actually recommended to try it a long time ago, but never did. Thena few weeks ago I felt like the redness around my nose and on my chin was getting out of control I asked Dr. Google for some help (my next step would have been a dermatologist). The supplement is Fermented Cod Liver Oil. The topic of cod liver oil (like of any other supplement) is a bit controversial, so I recommend you do your homework before considering it. The one that I am taking can be found here. It is quite disgusting if taken in gel form (which is what I have at the moment) but they also offer capsules. Please, note that you should not take this or any other supplement without consulting a doctor. This supplement contains Vitamin A, which can become toxic when taken in high doses, so you should most definitely follow the dosage guidelines. Bottom line is, the redness is gone for now. I will continue to look into the topic, but in the meanwhile, my skin has improved very much.

The Perfect Eyelash Curler. I recently mentioned this eyelash curler in a post, but this really deserves a proper review. If you use the Shiseido Eyelash Curler and like it, you will love the Surratt curler. It has a much sturdier frame and allows for a more firm hold. It’s like you get a better grip on your lashes while putting less pressure on them. It gives a great curl that looks natural, but still gives great length. Slightly more expensive than Shiseido, but it is a one-time investment, so I am 100% happy with it.

Pantone’s 2015 Color Pick. If you haven’t heard yet, next year’s color is going to be Marsala; a brownish red that I wouldn’t find appealing other than in makeup. In fact, it’s a pretty amazing color for makeup and I cannot wait to see what my favorite makeup creators will come up with. Sephora promptly launched a matte lip cream lipstick in this shade called Pure Marsala. You like? Feels very 90’s, right?

Sales. The Detox Market is offering $15 off any order of $100+ with code LASTCALL. You can find all their best-sellers (which includes some of my favorites) here.

Thoughtfully Mag. If you have not heard about it yet, a new magazine was launched a magazine that talks about beauty, wellness, and food from a green perspective. If you want to support a magazine that better represents our interests and community, then you must check this one out. Find it here.

Have a great week, and merry Christmas!
