Tuesday Toners: My Top 4 Facial Mists

Top 4 Toners

I often get asked what my favorite skincare products are and how they compare to each other. Since I had not done a Tuesday Toners post in a while, I thought that I would briefly talk you through my four favorite toners. Mind you that when I say toners, I am referring to facial mists, which do not typically do any dramatic toning, but are instead hydrating and balancing to my skin.

Another thing to consider, which you may not know if you are new to Genuine Glow, is that I have delicate skin, and it tends to be normal-to-oily. I do not suffer of acne, but I easily breakout if I use products that are too heavy, especially during Summer when  Florida’s heat and humidity exacerbate my oiliness.

1. YULI Cocoon Elixir.

This has been my go-to-toner for months. It works particularly well when used in combination with the Halcyon Cleanser. The things I like the most about it are:

  • That it is very soothing and calming to my skin. I have used it on angry, inflamed skin, and more recently, on sun-burned skin and it relieves my skin every single time;
  • How light it is. It’s oil free so the skin feels hydrated, but not greasy;
  • The excellent ingredients that provide antioxidants, vitamins, and that carry anti-inflammatory benefits.

You can find it here.

2. Kahina Toning Mist.

An old favorite of mine, which I just re-introduced to my routine. I went through at least two or three bottles and I love to use it in combination with Kahina’s Argan oil. This is one I would recommend to people with combo/oily skin, as I find it to be particularly effective at balancing my skin when it’s a bit more oily. A few of my favorite product features are:

  • Like the Cocoon elixir, this is light. It is oil-free, and gives the skin a hydrating boost without leaving any greasy/oily residue;
  • It contains glycerin and hyaluronic acid, which are water-binding ingredients that help with keeping the skin hydrated and plump;
  • The blemish-banning ingredients like Willow Bark, a source of salicylic acid, and Aspen Bark, which is rich in salicin, an anti-inflammatory agent.

You can find it here.

3. MUN No. 11 Anarose Rejuvenating Rose Toner.

Another oil-free option that I like especially for its hydrating, lines-softening effect. It makes the skin feel soft and smooth as soon as I apply it. It comes in a glass bottle with no misting nozzle, so the product has to be poured either into a cotton pad or hands. Highlights of the formula are:

  • The Prickly Pear Stem Extract, which is anti-inflammatory and calms the skin;
  • Like the Kahina Toning Mist, it contains hyaluronic acid and vegetable glycerin that help to prevent moisture-loss and keep the skin hydrated and plump.

You can find it here.

4. Maya Water.

This is simply a Thermal Water, and as such I use it only to hydrate my skin. It is rich in naturally occurring minerals, and it’s perfect to replenish dehydrated, dry, and environmentally stressed skin. I used to keep a bottle on the lowest shelf of my fridge to spray over my makeup (it won’t disturb the makeup as the mist comes out very fine),or when I came back home from a hot Summer day. It is the perfect skin-pick up! You can find it here.

What’s your favorite toner? Is there anyone that you recommend I try next?
