October Favorites

It’s about that time of every month, when I tell you about the products that I have enjoyed the most for the past 30 days. Aside from the rash that I had last week, that has almost completely healed, I had a lovely October (the wonderful cool weather has something to do with it, of course). I am looking forward to a cozy rest of the season and to a lot of delicious seasonal foods.

Osmia Organics Vanilla Shea Hand Cream. I know I have already raved about this hand cream so much, but I had to include it in my monthly favorites! It has the perfect texture for daytime use. It’s rich and moisturizing but as you massage it into your hands it turns into a light, almost runny film that coats and protects the hands without greasy residue. The scent is light, slightly sweet. I have not finished my first tube, but I quickly ordered another one, (the Rose-scented one called Linden Rose) because I already know that I am going to need it even more in the months to come.

Blissoma Natural Deodorant*. This deodorant spray was a welcome surprise. I have been hoping to find a safe and effective deodorant spray for ages, and yes, this is it. I am using the lavender-scented one, which is lovely and works great with my body chemistry. I have even used it on warm, hormonal, stressful, & sweaty days and it still worked. I highly recommend trying it because it works and it is definitely more convenient than a cream deodorant.

YULI Halcyon Cleanser. As I mentioned in my last weekend post, I have loved this cleanser so much lately and it is now almost completely gone. It took me a while to get used to the texture because I was very used to cream and oil cleansers. Now I not only appreciate the light, runny consistency; but I would not cleanse with anything else in the morning. It is quick, effective, it does not make my hair greasy, and it leaves the skin properly cleansed with no residue. It helps with keeping my skin clear, free of blemishes and it makes any treatment that I apply after cleansing work properly. My perfect skincare morning routine consists of Halcyon+Cocoon+Liquid Courage.

De Mamiel Rosey Lip Balm*. Since I started to use this lip balm, I practically abandoned all my other ones, except for the Ganache lip balms that I love to wear underneath lipsticks. The de Mamiel Rosey Lip Balm is great for conditioning the lips overnight and keeps them very soft. I know, all lip balms are meant to do that, but some are just more effective than others. I don’t like to use it in the daytime because I don’t like the taste of it, but for nighttime treatment, it is perfect. On the other hand, the Ganache lip balms have a completely different formula that moisturizes the lips but is completely shine-free. The matte finish makes this lip balm perfect to wear underneath a lipstick to soften and moisturize the lips without adding glossiness.

De Mamiel Restorative Cleansing Balm*. This has been my skincare treat for the month. Most days I am so sleepy at night that all I want to do is duty: cleanse, tone, treat, lip balm, goodnight. However, a few times a week I take time to pamper my self with a luxurious face massage and this balm is a dream. It contains two of my favorite ingredients: Calendula and Manuka honey, so no wonder why my skin feels amazing when i take it off. I have been experimenting with how much product I should use, whether I should follow with another cleanser, and I have resolved to use less than a finger scoop and follow with a few pumps of YULI Halcyon to make sure that no residue is left. More than a necessity, I consider this balm a special treat for my “me-time”, but my skin does look particularly healthy after each use.

One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder. In case you missed my last weekend post, I went out of town for a few days last week and although I brought some shampoo with me, I secretly hoped not to need to wash my hair at all. For some reasons, my hair always looks horrible when I don’t style it at home. Maybe because the water is different from place to place  and my shampoo does not work the same everywhere I go, (my favorite shampoo is still the Rahua Voluminous Shampoo). Anyways, I washed my hair and styled it with a flat iron the night before I left, and I ended up using only two products, the Captain Blankenship Mermaid Mane Sea Salt Spray, and the One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo. The first one is nice to refresh my hair and add a little crispiness when my waves start to get straight, while the second one makes my roots look fresher and add some oomph and volume. I didn’t even use it every day, but only the first day and it kept my hair nice for the next day, too.

Kure Bazaar Cappuccino. Love me a good nude nail polish and Cappuccino has become my #1 choice. It’s a nicely pigmented beige with a very glossy finish and it is very long-lasting. I swatched it on my nails two weeks ago, so you can see what it looks like here.

ILIA Beauty Strike It Up Lipstick. I am so glad I picked this lipstick, because I did not have a classic red like it, (no, really I did not). I just reviewed it in a recent post, so you can see more photos and swatches here. If you had to get one lipstick this Fall, I would say this is that one.

Dr. Alkaitis Organic Soothing Gel. I will spare you the story of my rash that happened last week, but if you missed it you can read it here. I desperately needed a product to soothe my skin (not trying to be dramatic, but I was in real discomfort) and I ended up reaching for the Dr. Alkaitis Organics Soothing Gel. It calmed the itchiness right away and gave a cooling effect. I applied a generous amount before going to bed, and the morning after it started to get a little better. I also applied the following days and now my skin has almost healed completely. It was so awesome to find out that it offers relief in case of a serious irritation.
