Catch-Up #51 + Giveaway!

Catch-Up #51

I hope you all had a fantastic week. I have a few things worth talking about and a giveaway prize I purchased for you to thank you for the wonderful support. Some of the comments that were left under my Youtube videos are the most meaningful and encouraging I have ever received. Thank you guys!

Repurchased. I wanted to try some new mascara, but I have had very little time to browse the web and read reviews, so I opted for a refill of my trusted Kjaer Weis mascara. At least I know it works well for me. You can read my full review here. Which mascara are you currently using? Please leave any recommendations you have in the comments section. You can find the Kjaer Weis mascara at LeVert Beauty (code GG10 saves you 10% every time you shop there). Kjaer Weis fans, stay tuned because new products are launching soon, and I may have a little preview ready for you. It just might be one of my favorite KW makeup releases so far!

Sephora shopping. I got asked several times if I ever shop at Sephora, and the answer is yes. Beside the tools department (makeup brushes, eyelash curlers, face sponges) and the nail polish section (Jin Soon & Butter London are some of my favorites), Sephora is now offering several brands I use, such as Tata Harper, Kari Gran, and a new find, Bite Beauty. More about Bite Beauty in the paragraph below. if you would like me to write a post/film a video about the items I buy at Sephora, please leave a comment below.

Bite Beauty. I recently purchased a few Bite Beauty products. I went for one (I wanted to pick up the Amaretto Matte Lip Crayon I saw in a recent video of Ashley MakeupTIA), but I ended up picking up three different formulas. I got one High Pigment Pencil in the color Honey Berry, a medium nude/brown, pigmented, large pencil (the one I am wearing in the video), one Luminous Créme Lipstick in the color Fiano, which is a light beige/nude color, and a set of four Mini Matte Lip Crayons. The set was the best part because like I said, I wanted to buy one Matte Lipstick Crayon, but the set I bought contains four deluxe size mini crayons for the price of a full-size one, and they are all wearable colors. The set is called Best Bite Rewind, and retails for $25. You know what, I don’t like early Christmas talk, but that set will make a beautiful, affordable Christmas gift. The colors are a pinky-nude, a rosey, a red, and a deeper berry color, so it won’t disappoint anyone. You can check out the set here.

The (holi)stick deodorant. As you may have seen it on my Instagram feed, I am currently using a new deodorant, and so far, I like it. It’s called Agent Nateur – the holi(stick) and it comes in the form of a chubby stick with twist up mechanism. It’s very creamy and moisturizing (coconut oil, raw honey, beeswax), and smells fresh, clean, and slightly sweet (eucalyptus, lavender, and honey). It contains baking soda, but I have used it on freshly shaved pits (how brave am I?) and experienced no irritation, possibly because of the soothing/moisturizing properties of the other ingredients. It does prevent me from smelling bad, but the clean scent dissipates quickly. So at the end of the day my pits don’t smell fresh and clean like after the application, but they don’t smell bad either. I wish the scent was a tad stronger. Also, I noticed that the product is so moisturizing that it almost feels “moist”. It does not feel uncomfortable to me, but if you sweat a lot, it could possibly get uncomfortable to you. Another plus is that it does not leave any stains on dark clothing. If any of you guys tried it, please share your thoughts. I will most likely repurchase it when I run out of it. Available here.

Lisa Eldridge Face Paint Book. Tomorrow, Lisa Eldrige’s Face Paint – The Story of Makeup book is finally going to be launched (I actually just received the shipping notification!). If you love makeup/art history and you haven’t pre-ordered it yet, you can find it on Amazon (yay for Prime shipping, because I cannot wait to get mine!).

Onomie concealer. I recently asked on Instagram if you guys could recommend a concealer, and I received a recommendation for Onomie Beauty, which just won a Best of Beauty award from Allure. They offer a convenient option to buy samples that are good for a couple of uses each. What you receive is one sample in the shade you pick, one sample in lighter shade, and one sample in shade darker than the color you choose. The fourth sample is a sample of the Eye Illuminating Treatment, which I have not used yet. I tried the concealer a couple of times, and while I do like the color selection, I find the concealer to be a bit drying to my under-eye area. Not extremely drying, but a little. It offers good coverage, but sets quickly, so you need to blend it as quickly as possible. Once it sets, it stays on beautifully, but like I said, it can look a bit dry, so I would not recommend it to more mature ladies. It also contains some ingredients that will not please the most hardcore, green beauties, namely silicones, Bismuth Oxychloride, and a few more. Overall the concealer formula performed okay, but I will not purchase a full-size.

My first Honest Beauty purchase. I placed my first Honest Beauty order, and I got the Brow Filler because I am still on the hunt for the perfect brow filling product for my ashy, almost black brow hairs. The Honest Beauty Brow Filler is a retractable pencil with a waxy texture, that I must say, stays on really well. It also has a spoolie on one end (yaasss) and is overall, a very good eyebrow pencil. The tip is not very fine, but you can still draw in missing hairs if you want to. Unfortunately, the color I picked (Rich Brunette) does not suit me. It is a medium brown (not red) that is not gray enough for my very ashy, almost black brow hairs. If you find a shade that suits you, it is a good eyebrow pencil, but not one I see myself reaching for much in the future. I may give the darkest color a try. You can check them out here. I will pick a few more Honest Beauty products because there are quite a few items that look promising in terms of textures and colors.

Kimberlyloc x Rachel’s Plan Bee Body Oil*. My fellow blogger Kim from kimberlyloc.com collaborated with Rachel’s Plan Bee to create a body serum. Not only does it have a great texture that requires very little rubbing to become completely non-greasy, but it smells like fresh jasmine flowers. Not being the biggest fan of jasmine scent, I was afraid that I would have been turned off by the scent, but I actually like the scent very much. It has a hint of Rose, Vanilla, and Sweet Orange in it as well. It retails for $36, which is significantly more affordable than most of the body serums that I have tried, and does not feel a dollar cheaper than them. It’s limited edition, so if you want a floral body oil with a reasonable price tag, grab it now. You can find it here.
