Highlighters and contouring products have definitely gained some popularity over the past couple of years and I can see why. A good contour/highlight job can enhance and beautify facial features and give a more expensive look to the skin as well. The latest addition to my collection of highlighters is the Kjaer Weis Highlighter in Radiance*, a creamy, rosey-champagne product that gives the skin a beautiful glow.
The texture of the product is outstanding. It is creamy, but not too creamy and it sets on the skin without feeling like it is going to slide off. I am amazed at how Kjaer Weis manages to create textures that are so easy to work with by using only natural and mostly organic ingredients, (the Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation is also a favorite of mine). The consistency of this highlighter is what makes it easy to apply it on the skin. Personally, I do not like to rub it on my cheekbones in a sweeping motion, but instead I lightly dab it until it is evenly distributed, starting from the beginning of the cheekbone under my eye, going upwards diagonally ’til the side of my eyebrow.
The shade is a universally flattering warm-pearl color. As someone who has a very strong golden undertone, I would have not expected a product with a lavender tone to work for me. However, as you can see in the photo, it actually looks neutral and sits nicely against my skin tone. The overall shimmery effect is not too obvious, (no large glittery particles or obvious shimmer) however you may be able to see the shimmer particles in a close-up. I would prefer if the particles were even smaller than they are, but you need to get very close to see them, so it is not a deal-breaker for me. In fact, this is the only highlighter I have been wearing since I got it. It gives the perfect touch of radiance that makes the skin look like a million bucks.
My favorite way to wear it is in combination with the newest cream blush from Kjaer Weis, called Embrace, (stay tuned to see the whole new Fall collection). Embrace is a gorgeous neutral pink-nude color, so it pairs beautifully with the Radiance highlighter. *Update* See photos and swatches of the Kjaer Weis Embrace Cream Blush.
As with any Kjaer Weis product, the package is a treat. A glamorous silver compact that is refillable, so that once you run out of the product you can just purchase the refill and place it in the compact.
Time to retire the Living Luminizer? Well, that may depend on your preference. As for me, I pick Radiance over the Living Luminizer for the perfect, silky texture (so easy to work with) and the fresh, not too dewy effect that it gives to the skin. And of course, it’s nice to know that is manufactured in my country (Forza Italia!)
