Being a huge fan of Ilia Beauty, I have been waiting to try their brand new lipstick crayons long before they were available for purchase. Of the six shades available, my first two picks were Dress You Up and Call Me.

Consistency: In case you are already familiar with Ilia’s formulas, I would say that the consistency of the crayons is very similar to the consistency of the lipsticks, but a hint creamier. For those of you who are completely new to Ilia, you would be amazed at how moisturizing their lip products are. The lipstick crayons are advertised as being packed with the healing oils of sesame, rose hip (already a huge fan of rose hip oil) and papaya.

ColorDress You Up is described as a true mauve, and I completely agree. I would just add that it is a vibrant shade of mauve that could also be described as a rose color. One of those “my lips–but better” shades. Call Me is a fun, bright medium-pink, which in my opinion sits in between In My Room and Neon Angel. Not as warm as the first, not as blue as the second. It’s a nice vibrant pink that I would definitely pick as a Spring/Summer must have shade.

Application: The lip crayons are definitely more fun to apply, compared to a classic lipstick. Just don’t expect them to be as hard as a lip liner, because they are very creamy. You can definitely apply straight from the tube, but you might need to define your lips with a lip liner. I used my favorite Jane Iredale nude lip definers: Nude for the swatch of Dress You Up, and Spice for the swatch of Call Me.

Packaging: Although they come in a crayon shaped tube, they do not need a sharpener because they use a twisting mechanism. Much more practical, if you ask me :)

Final Thoughts: In my opinion, this is another winning formula from Ilia Beauty (surprised?) If you like the packaging you will be even more satisfied with the product. I love them and I will definitely pick two more shades soon, Come Undone and Iko Iko, a beautiful nude and a bronze color.
