At last Spring came and landed in my makeup bag, too. In my post about my two new Alima Pure Bronzers I told you that I was totally over vampy lips and pale skin. For the past week or so I have been all about keeping it simple and fresh, and perhaps just a tad bronzed-up. As we saw it on several S/S 2014 runaways such as Bottega Veneta, Emilio Pucci, Etro & more, one of the major makeup trends for this season is minimal makeup. Polished and glowing skin, barely there contouring, full, natural-looking brows, and as little eye makeup as one can possibly get away with. I recently picked a few new things that worked perfectly to get into this type of look, so take a peek!
The makeup bag in the photo is a Stephanie Johnson Medium Flat Pouch in Coral which is currently on sale at Beauty.com in a few different colors, so hurry to pick one, they are so so cute! For base, I have finally tried the Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream* (totally late to the party about this one – I know!), which has great coverage. On a good skin day I don’t even use concealer because the pigmentation of the BB cream is just enough to cover any spots. The finish is not on the dewy side and works perfect for my combination skin. On my cheeks I have been reaching for my old, but gold Vapour Beauty cream blush in Spark for that healthy looking, pinky-peach flush. It is totally buildable to a more intense color, but I like to keep it soft. To get a little glow, I am experimenting with the new Jane Iredale In Touch Highlighter in Comfort* that comes in this lovely rose gold shade and has a little golden shimmer in it. On my brows, I have recently discovered Shobha, and despite the fact that I picked the wrong shade for my brows, (a little on the light side), it is a lovely brow pencil that comes with a pencil sharpener on one of the ends.
On my eyes, the perfect shade to get a completely natural and neutral eye look is Kjaer Weis in Charmed. It is a warm beige shade with a buttery texture that neutralizes redness on my lids and warms them up a bit. With my eye shape, a little tight-lining is always preferred, even for minimal makeup, so I use the Jane Iredale Eye Pencil in Black-Brown which gives a slightly softer look than a deep black liner.
On my lashes I am currently getting acquainted with the new RMS Beauty Defining Mascara, and while I am not familiar with that type of wand, I have gotten pretty nice lashes and will do a proper review of it ASAP.
Finally, my lip color of choice has been Ilia Beauty in Hold Me Now for the perfect Spring-y petal pink and soft, moisturized lips. The only two things missing to complete my look are the new Ilia Beauty setting powder (review coming soon!) and my new fabulous Alima Pure bronzing powder in Sombra (yes, the one I love that was discontinued!). It is on it’s way to me as I speak. You can bet I will feature that one soon…
