YÜLI Liquid Courage

YULI Liquid Courage Antioxidant Serum with copyright

Back to skincare talk! This post is long overdue, and I think that most of you already know my feelings about this product because I have been talking about it so much. I have been using the YÜLI Skincare Liquid Courage Antioxidant Serum for a few months and I just finished bottle #2, so I have definitely had enough time to test it out and find out if it was of any benefit to my skin.

Here are a few of the things that I have noticed with consistent use of this serum. First, it does not clog my pores, even if I apply extra product. My forehead tends to get congested with tiny head-less spots, but while using this serum, I have never experienced congested skin at all. It does not contain any comedogenic ingredients; it is light and easily absorbed into the skin. Second, it helps to heal my occasional blemishes. I would typically avoid applying any oil serum on a whitehead or on a full-blown pimple, but whenever I had a blemish and I applied this serum all over my face before going to bed, the following morning the inflammation had gone down and the blemish had healed partially or completely. Thirdly, while it is not particularly rich in texture, it makes my skin look plump and radiant.

I am not being extra generous in compliments, this serum really works that good for my skin. It contains several brilliant ingredients so I cannot even try to guess which ones help my skin in such a significant way. When using this serum I would describe my skin as balanced, radiant, and healthy and I have never experienced breakouts while using it.

With over 20 key active ingredients, the Liquid Courage is full of topical “nutrients” that absorb easily into the skin (no slippery, greasy face with this). Here are a few facts about the key active ingredients:

Ferulic Acid. A powerful antioxidant derived from Acai berry and Argan. According to research, this organic compound provides protection against environmental stressors (including UV rays), and helps the formula to maintain its photo-stability when exposed to the sun.

Black Garlic Bioferment. By fermenting garlic the antioxidant properties of garlic increase potency by six times and it also provides healthy enzymes that help the skin to balance its pH. Balanced skin=clear skin. And no, it does not smell like garlic at all. It acutally has a delicate Neroli scent to it.

Botanical Antioxidant Seed Complex. This seed complex is a mix of polyphenols, EGCG, resveratrol, vitamin C and E, minerals, proteins, and fatty acids that protect, strengthen, and repair the skin.

Naturally occurring COQ10 helps to maintain skin elasticity by stimulating collagen and elastin production.

If I had to narrow down my skincare stash (what a nightmare that would be!) and could only use one serum, this would be it. That’s because it works and because it is one of the few that can be used both AM and PM without causing photosensitivity like serums that contain rosehip oil or citrus oil. It is one of the most expensive products that I have tried, yet I have never questioned whether I should repurchase it or not. Also, I emptied my first bottle quickly by using 5 drops with every application, but recently I have been using as little as 2 drops of serum, gently pressed into moist skin (Yuli Cocoon Elixir or MUN Rose Toner) and I have been equally pleased with the results. I consider it a worth investment, especially when compared to other equally expensive serums that do not contain even half of the key actives that are in this one. If you have combination, oily, or problematic skin, I would skip on the other YULI serums, which I think are more appropriate for dry skin, and I would opt for this one.

I doubt that you will be disappointed, unless of course you are sensitive toward any of the ingredients. Sounds so corny, but this really is my Liquid Courage in a bottle, skincare-wise. The Liquid Courage is available at YÜLI Skincare.

Your posts brighten up my day! :) But now I’m confused because I was actually going to buy the ME Skin Fuel… I’m combination and blemish prone, I can get a bit oily in the T zone but also tight dry skin on cheeks. Do you think Liquid Coverage would be suitable for me?
    Have a great week!

    • Hi Bianca, I meant to mention that months ago I tried the ME SKin Fuel and my skin reacted to it. I got some tiny, angry, red spots while using it. I am pretty sure that my skin is sensitive to some ingredient in that serum. I have only read great reviews for the ME Skin Fuel, but based on my experience, I would recommend the Liquid Courage because it has been formulated to suit all skin types. However, you could also get small samples of both serums first, to see if your skin likes them, and which one is best for you. I hope this helps! Thanks for reading :)

I’m on my second bottle and this my fav serum ever. I love that it protects the skin with all those great ingredients. I have dry skin and it works really well for me, didn’t know it was good for oily skin too. I could gush all day about this serum.

    • Hi Kelly, same here! I am in love with it. Especially for how it keeps my skin clear. I think that the Halcyon cleanser and Cocoon Elixir play a big part in it, too. Thanks for reading! Have a great week :)

  • I love Yüli and I definitely have to try this out! I’ve tried the Cell Perfecto PM for my post-acne scars and I lo-hove their Cellular Lip Conditioner! But this… With my problematic acne skin, I do have to give it a shot ;) Thank you! x

    • Hi Raquel, the Cell Perfecto PM is the only product from Yuli that I have not tried yet, but I plan to! Have you noticed any fading in your scars? I plan to get it as soon as I finish the Modern Alchemist. Please let me know how you like the Liquid Courage if you give it a try! Thanks for reading :)

      • I did notice some diferences, it did improve the time in which they healed… However, mine take over a year to completely fade, even with the help of cosmetics and acids, because my skin is so sensitive and fair…
So I don’t know if it’s the best one I’ve tried, but it is good (oh, green beauty wise though, it’s the best one for sure) :) x

I first tried Cell Perfecto Pm a few years back and it worked wonderfully. Super clear skin, healed scars–the works. I revisited it at a later time and my skin didn’t take to it as much. I’m giving it another shot now. I do remember my first time using it feeling like it was not working but since I had paid so much I decided to use it up and all of a sudden I woke up one day with perfect skin. It works gradually but I believe it works on a deep level.

I had used a bottle and sadly it did nog work for me at all. I do not have many scars so used it as a spot treatment as recommended and experienced no improvement at all. My skin is fair and sensitive/dry so maybe that has something to do with it.

  • Thank you for this review! It seems lately, as I’ve been eyeing this serum, more recommendations keep popping up. From Jade, Ruhimaach, and now here.

Will definitely have to check this out when i’ve finished more of my skincare stash (a great yet painstakingly long process haha). I’m definitely looking to be more focused on my skincare– not necessarily one brand, but with products that I love and that work. Thanks for another great review!! :)

  • Laura

Lovely! I have used this serum during daytime for 2 years now consistently and love it too – my skin is dry and sensitive. It is a total staple. At night I use modern alchemist. Would love to know how you get on with it? Also, how does the mun toner compare to metamorphic elixir (I think you tried both…?) thanks!!

  • Jill

Great review, I really want to try this! Does this wear well under makeup?

    • Laura

I wear makeup on top and it works well for me. (Kjaer weis foundation/blush, also rms uncover up/luminiser and I also used it with the ilia tint).

  • Suzanne

Thanks for the terrific review! I placed my first Yuli order last week and Liquid Courage was in it…if only it would ship soon so I can finally try it out :-)

  • Jaime

I had no idea rosehip oil is photosensitive! I have been using a Kypris oil and have terrible dry/red patches and wondering if that is irritating my skin since I use it during the day. Would you recommend this for dry/sensitive skin? I have had my idea on Yuli for a while now but have been trying to use up my Kypris first.

Hi! I just got my new Yuli products…Pure mask, metaphormic elixir, liquid courage and PM cell perfecto…I’m going on week of using these…and I think my skin may be purging? It’s breaking out in spots that are not typical for me….I upped my usage of pure mask thinking it would help but maybe that is making my skin break out (i.e. bring things to the surface). did any body else experience this? I don’t want to believe that my skin might not like these products :(

    • Dani

I haven’t experienced this with Yuli products but I do know that skin can purge on new products, especially if you use too much at once. I’m not a pro at this but I think your Pure Mask shouldn’t be upped, I love that mask but I know it does bring things to the surface which is good for your skin in the long run but for going on a week using it so many times it’s just overkill

    • monica

this happened to me…after 2 months of usage….i have spent so much on the products..not sure what to do? i have the same products you have..

  • jaime

I had no idea rosehip seed oil is photosensitive! Oh no! I have been using the Kypis oil during the day and that might be what is aggregating my skin and causing red spots. :( Do you think this would work well for dry sensitive skin? Thanks!

Hi Lilly, I am a huge supporter of Yuli as it has cleared up my skin (Halcyon, Panacea, ME Skin Fuel, Cell Perfecto PM and Pure are the ones I have purchased) and now that winter has taken over, my skin is dehydrated and flaky. I tried a sample of Liquid Courage last summer and it was fantastic but now I am torn between trying Modern Alchemist or Liquid Courage in full size. What do you recommend?

  • SP

Hi Lilly! I am a big fan of your blog! Keep up the good work!
I recently purchased the Tata Harper Rejuvenating serum and I was wondering if you have any thoughts on it? I usually love a natural/herbal scent but whoa this thing is migraine inducing. However, if you thought it was a life changing product I would try to over come it!
    Thanks!

  • I know YULI is a must-try brand for me at some point, and I’ve been eyeing the Cell Perfecto serum for my acne scars. But then again when I go back to read the product description for their serums, I get a little confused because they sound like I can benefit from them all. Happy to hear that Liquid Courage is The One for you, I will KIV this!

p.s. Have you tried swiping ACV toner over the tiny forehead zits? Usually for spots like that the ACV toner works for me. :)

  • This one has been on my to-buy list forever. I love that it has vitamin C, E and ferulic acid — that is the master combo! Interesting that you say the ME Skin Fuel would be better for dry skin. It’s in the “blemish prone” category on Yuli’s site and says good for combo / normal, but it’s nice to get feedback like that and be able to narrow down some more. Looking forward to trying this soon!
