Weekly Catch-Up #37

weekend post 37

Oh hey Summer!

I hope you all had a lovely week, and to everyone living in the USA, I hope you are enjoying Memorial Day Weekend! I took advantage of this holiday to get some stuff done, such as cleaning and re-organizing my office space, which was exhausting, but SO rewarding. I have only postponed one task I absolutely hate: washing my makeup brushes. I do not even remember the last time I washed them, *ahem*, let’s get to the weekly recap…

Repurchased. This week I repurchased a blush that I had for (at least) more than 3 years. It’s from Gabriel Cosmetics and the color is Apricot. It is a true apricot color, that you can apply sheer for more subtle peachy cheeks, or build up to a more intense color. It is completely matte, easy to blend, lasts quite well. I bought my first one at Whole Foods, but recently found it on Vitacost, where it is a bit cheaper.

“New” Eyeliner Technique. As I mentioned in yesterday’s FOTD post, I have “discovered” a new way to line my eyes that might become my favorite. I have always believed that cat flick done with liquid liner was the most flattering for my eye shape, and it might even be so, but I have also noticed that smudging eyeliner with eyeshadow gives a much more subtle, photo-friendly look. I have used the Antonym Cosmetics Eye Pencil in Noir + a Jane Iredale black eyeshadow with shimmer, and the combo works just fine, but I plan on getting the Red Apple Lipstick black eyeshadow in the shade Black Magic, which is completely matte. I find that using eyeshadow on top of the pencil increases the longevity of the eye makeup (compared to liquid liner) and fades more evenly. I think I will be rocking this look all Summer. Be sure to let me know your favorite way to do your eyeliner in the comments section below!

LeVert Beauty Haul. As you may have seen on my Insta feed, last week I received my LeVert Beauty Haul*, and let me tell you, it was a fab mail day. I picked a few things that I wanted to try like the One Love Organics Gardenia+Tea Body Serum (which I opened and used immediately); the ED4OLO Vitamin C Body Polish that I had the chance to sample after A Night for Green Beauty in LA; LeVert also kindly included three Aila Cosmetics nail polishes: a nude, a white, and a red one (how did they guess so well?!) and a few Box Naturals Samples. I will review everything as I use it, but the body serum has already won me over because 1.) it smells like fresh gardenias, one of my favorite flowers; 2.) it comes with a spray nozzle, so you can spritz the serum (genius!); 3.) non greasy consistency. LeVert Beauty carries not only some favorites such as Kjaer Weis, MUN, and One Love Organics, but also a few brands I have never tried. You can find it here.

Memorial Day Sales. If you are planning on purchasing or repurchasing beauty products, make sure to check out the Memorial Day Green Beauty Sales post from yesterday, where you can find discounts and offers. If there is any other sale happening that I missed, please leave a comment. You can find the post here.

de Mamiel Giveaway. Congratulations Abigayle for winning the de Mamiel giveaway, and thanks to everyone who entered. I have another giveaway coming up soon, so stay tuned!

Have a great week, and check out your feed for new posts this week :)
