Weekend Catch-Up #34

Weekend Post 34

Long time no see! I am going to keep this recap brief and to the the point, and I will get more in details about this month’s hits and misses in my April Favorites post coming up. How are you all enjoying Spring so far?

Repurchased. Although I did not finished it yet, this week I purchased a new bottle of YULI Halcyon Cleanser because I am afraid of running out of it (especially on a Friday evening when I cannot expect it to be shipped the following day–worst feeling ever). Last time I checked, Spirit Beauty Lounge still had some in stock. If you want to know why I keep repurchasing this facial cleanser, read my full review here.

New from Jane Iredale. I finally got the chance to try the new Jane Iredale Spring makeup collection titled, Country Getaway*. Here’s a mini-review.

The eye palette is called Getaway Eye Shadow Kit and comes with 5 eyeshadow shades (in the same order of the swatches below):

  1. Fresh Air –  a shimmery pearl
  2. Silence –  A Shimmery golden pink
  3. Footprintsa matte green grey
  4. Tea on the Porch a shimmer, copper gold
  5. Starry Night a shimmery black

The eyeshadow textures are very easy to work with and all contain some shimmer except for Footprints, the greenish-brown color, which is completely matte. The coppery shade is insanely pigmented and easy to blend. Starry night, the black shade, was quite surprising. In the palette it looked a little “powdery”, but it blends like butter. Although it contains some shimmer, the black shade can definitely be used to line the eyes. If it is a color palette that you see yourself wearing, than it may be a very good purchase for you because the quality is good and the palette is lightweight and conveniently packed.. The Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliner color is called Espresso, which is a dark, plum brown with subtle shimmer. It’s the only product that I have not used yet. The color is beautiful, but I will have to use it to see how it wears. The last product of this collection is the new Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in the color Forever Peach. Upon application it looks sheer, but when in contact with the skin/lips it gets it transforms into a customized shade of peach (the skin’s warmth makes the color change). I like it very much on the cheeks, especially with a soft eye makeup, while it is not my favorite for lips as it gets a little too orange.

Bronzer Love. I use a bronzer all year round, but when Spring arrives I get more heavy handed, because I like a little extra warmth and glow on my face, especially now that I try not to tan anymore. I am still using the same bronzers from last year, (you can read this post here, here, and here): the Alima bronzer in Mauna Loa, the Sombra contour powder, and for cream options, the Kjaer Weis cream blush in Desired Glow. I no longer use the ILIA Illuminator in Sway, simply because it has expired, but I may repurchase it in the future. What is you favorite bronzer? Are there any that you recommend? Also, who is excited about the new Kjaer Weis bronzer launching soon? (You know I am!).

Perfume Giveaway. If you haven’t yet, you should definitely enter the Lurk RSW005 Eau de Toilette giveaway, now. Head over to the post (click here) and follow the instructions. The prize is terrific and would make a fantastic gift for mother’s day… IF you are able to give it up for your mom. I’d buy one for her and keep mine. Click here for the full review.

Acne & Diet. This week my newest article on eHow went live. It’s all about acne & diet, so if you have never read anything about the topic, make sure to check it out. It’s not very long, and contains links to several studies that you may find interesting/helpful. Read it here.

Sales. This week I placed my first order at Pharmaca, and was very pleased with their selection, prices, and customer service. They are currently running a great sale: 30% off on all orders, and free shipping on orders over $35 (ends tonight). Click here and use code APRIL.

Have a great week!
