#SelfcareSunday Week 2

This series may be my new favorite thing to blog about because I love slow Sundays and I simply do not have time for certain self-care activities during week days. I had 3 hours of sleep last night (it’s a long story…) and I had to wake up early. I had a fantastic nap after lunch–in a full face of makeup. ‘Nuff said.

Onto this evening’s skincare menu:

MŪN Akwi Purifying Cleanser to remove my makeup. I am aiming for going two days without washing my hair, so Akwi is the perfect makeup remover for when I don’t want to get any oil in my hair line. It is a very effective cream cleanser that can also be used for massage since it is oil-based (castor oil, Argan oil, Camellia Seed oil–green tea) and has a bit of a slip to it.  I remove it just like I would with any cleansing oil and then I proceed with my usual second cleanse cleanser. Full review here.

YÜLI Halcyon Cleanser. Same as last week–and the last few years. Quick, refreshing, removes all residue, does not irritate.

Odacité Synergie Immediate Skin Perfecting Mask. I can’t believe that I haven’t reviewed this mask yet? I mean, I can believe it–it’s been a crazy year–but still! This is a great mask at a great price. I’m not saying it’s cheap, but it’s a lot of product, and it’s an effective mask for gentle exfoliation and improving the  skin’s texture when it is feeling a bit clogged and patchy, like tonight. It’s also quite gentle compared to most clay-based masks, and I like the versatility of the ingredients. I mix it with different ingredients without the risk of transforming it into an irritating potion. I’m on my second jar and would definitely buy a new one. At The Detox Market.

Kristina Holey + Marie Veronique Balancing HypoTonic*. Sadly, this is going to be all gone tonight. I enjoyed this product very much, but as I mentioned last week, I wasted so much product by pouring it into cotton rounds (it’s a bottle with a fairly large rim, no spritzing nose or pump). I hope that they will consider changing the packaging by adding a pump or dropper–just something that prevents waste. Other than that, I liked it and I felt that it truly made my skin feel balanced, glowy, and healthy.

Marie Veronique X Ayla Beauty Dara’s Oil*. This is a face oil that Dara, the founder of Ayla Beauty, created with Marie Veronique. This is a lovely face oil. It is a mix of hydrating and moisturizing ingredients that feels surprisingly light. It’s free of all irritating ingredients–essential oils, fragrances, and even tocopherol–which Dara was found to be  sensitive to. In the story of how this oil was created, it is mentioned how there is an increasing number of people becoming sensitive to tocopherol (which is simply a form of Vitamin E, an antioxidant), and developing contact dermatitis because of its widespread use. I didn’t know about problems associated with tocopherol use, so it was an interesting discovery. At Ayla.

I will be testing this serum for the next few weeks. This first week went very well and I did not notice any reactions, clogged pores, etc. I just really enjoy the light texture along with the extra moisture since it’s a bit colder and more dry outside.

Maya Chia Eye Achiever*. Still enjoying this eye serum. I use it morning and evening (it’s light and absorbs well, so I can also use it underneath eye makeup without the risk of making the concealer slip and move around. I just tap it until it feels like it’s fully absorbed. Also, it works great for when I have eye makeup residue under my eyes (rare, but sometimes it happens). I just apply some product under my eyes and then gently wipe the residue with a cotton bud. Available at Maya Chia.

Plume Lash & Brow Serum*. I have mentioned before how I have been testing this lash serum for a few months. I still have not seen a remarkable change in my bald eyebrow spots, but my lashes really do look longer and fuller. However, I am not giving up on my eyebrows because even though the empty spots have not been filled, I do see teeny-tiny hairs in there that I don’t remember seeing before. I’ll keep you posted. Available at Plume.

Which skincare products are you loving at the moment? Have you tried any of these I am using today?
