RMS Beauty Lip Liners Review & Swatches

Together with the super-pigmented Wild With Desire Lipsticks that I showed you in my previous post, RMS Beauty launched three, equally lovely, lip liners*. I dare to say that I love these lip liners even more than the lipsticks because the formula, pigmentation, and shades are really on point.

Formula & Pigmentation

The consistency of these liners is creamy, but nice and thick, so it is completely opaque and rich in color. I do not find it drying at all, although these days I always use some lip balm underneath for extra comfort. It does not tug on the lips, but it has enough grip to stay on for hours (at least 7-8 unless I drink/eat). When it starts to fade, it does so evenly.

The ingredients vary slightly from color to color, so here’s a full-list for each shade:

  • daytime nude: *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax) (Cire d’abeille), Calcium Sulfate, *Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, *Tocopherol (non-GMO), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)
  • nighttime nude: *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax) (Cire d’abeille), *Cera Carnauba (Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax) (Cire de carnauba), *Tocopherol (non-GMO), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77499)
  • dressed-up red: *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax) (Cire d’abeille), *Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Barium Sulfate, *Tocopherol (non-GMO), Red 6 (CI 15850), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide (CI 77491)

    *Organic

Please note that these lip liners are cruelty-free, but not vegan (they contain ethically-sourced beeswax).

Colors

I am not sure if more shades will be added to the line, but as of right now, the lip liners come in three shades, covering all the essentials: a light nude, a deeper nude, and a classic red:

Daytime Nude: a tawny nude. Rich in beige, slightly peachy tones. This is slightly lighter than my lip color and it’s the perfect color to pair with an intense smoky eye. A lovely, Bardot type of nude.

Nighttime Nude: a deep rose taupe. This is my dream lip liner. It’s a MLBB (my lips but better) color, but a little deeper. Perfect companion for mauvey/rosey/brown-ish/nude colors like Nudus 17 Kisses, Kosas Undone, Kjaer Weis Believe, Gressa Lip Boost in Bare, and any similar colors. This lip liner color is almost identical to the Kjaer Weis lip liner in the shade Mauve.

Dressed Up Red: a classic red. A versatile red that can be used with any other reds of the same intensity. It’s a beautiful, classic red color, and can totally be worn on its own with a little lip balm for a bold, long-lasting red color. I have seen this one on a model with very dark skin, and it looked incredible. It looked a bit lighter(like a bright, pinky-red), but so gorgeous.

Packaging

I love the idea of a built-in sharpener, and I wish that all pencils (eye liners, lip liners, brow pencils) would come with one. Pencil sharpeners end up getting all gunked-up and require some maintenance. It is nice and sturdy–I hate when pencils have flimsy caps and parts that loosen up and get lost in my handbags. So I appreciate the quality of the packaging. My only complaint is that it gets dirty easily because it is white and made in plastic. Thankfully, that can be wiped-off easily–I use my Parian Spirit spray bottle to routinely clean makeup brushes and similar makeup packaging.

As you guys may already know, I love lip liners, even more than lipsticks. My lips are uneven (one side is higher and fuller than the other) and lack pigmentation in the corners, so lip liners help me to get a more polished, defined, and pouty look. I am very happy with these lip liners and definitely recommend checking them out. You can shop them here.
