RMS Beauty Eye Shadow in Karma

RMS Beauty Cream Eye Shadow in Karma Review Swatches PhotosRMS Beauty Karma

Whether you are new to “natural” and “organic” cosmetics or you are a green beauty veteran, you probably already know RMS Beauty, at least because of the wonderful work of Rose Marie Swift. Every time I stumble into a fashion campaign that she has worked on or a Gisele red carpet event, I cannot help but to stare at the talent demonstrated. I will say that I am just as amazed by her makeup line.

Karma is one of the RMS coconut oil-based cream eye shadows. The color is very unique. A dark brown with a subtle silver shimmer that looks more like a satin taupe when applied lightly, and more like a rich blackened-brown when applied heavily. I think that Karma is what every smoky eye lover needs in her makeup bag. You can use it alone for a quick luminous smoky eye look, as a base for a stronger look topped with another cream or powder eye shadow, or even as an easy liner. I find that Karma makes a great substitute for gel liner, looking equally shiny and intense.

Being a hooded-eye gal, I am not the best candidate to talk to you about creasing issues, because almost anything creamy will crease on my eyes, and this one is no exception. However, I am very pleased that this shadow stays put on my eyes for several hours without fading. Actually, the very first day I wore it I was going out in the middle of the day. It was sunny and bright outside, and I looked in the mirror of my car to check on how my makeup looked, and I realized I had put a little too much! I tried to remove some by patting with my fingers, but the shadow just would not come off! This was very surprising to me because I read in some reviews that for some people it was not long-wearing. My suggestion is to set it with powder, and I highly recommend the RMS Beauty Un-Powder, (will blog about that one soon. Edit: check out my full review here). If applied correctly, a good setting powder can make a huge difference.

Ingredients: Coconut Oil*, Beeswax*, Jojoba Seed Oil*, Cocoa Seed Butter*, Tocopherol (non-gmo), Rosemary Extract*. May also contain: titanium dioxide, ci 77891, iron oxides ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499, mica ci 77019. *Certified Organic

This eye shadow has quickly become a favorite of mine, and I plan on trying these other shades next: Magnetic, Seduce and Lunar. I know that Magnetic is very popular, so if you tried it, please share in the comments below about your experience. I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

You can shop the RMS Beauty eyeshadows here where you can find the new Swift eyeshadows as well.

Have you tried any RMS Beauty products?

Hm, it’s actually nice to hear that it wouldn’t budge on somebody because all of the reviews I’ve read say they don’t last. It is nice to hear a different account so I’m still thinking about just trying them for myself. My absolute fave is their Un cover up, which I wear almost everyday! Excellent review girly :) Xo, Audreiana from True Beauty By Nature

    • Hey Audreiana, I was very impressed with this eye shadow because I did not expect it to work so well for me. I have oily eye lids most of the time. I wanted to try it mainly because the color looked so beautiful and intense! If you decide to try it, (and I think you would love it too), also get the un-powder. If you set it with that powder, I don’t think the shadow will smudge at all. Thank you for your comment! xx

  • I adore rms beauty, karma is on of my fav shades from them :) I am so glad that a brand is making products that work for my dry skin so well. I like karma for a soft smokey eye or even just on its own, amazing! xxx

    • Hi Claire, so glad to hear you like these shadows too. I do not have dry skin, but I can imagine how nice these products must feel on your skin. They are so nourishing and hydrating! Thank you for your comment, xx

I love RMS shadows. I’d say Karma, Magnetic, and Solar are my favorites – and which one is on top changes. Magnetic, in my experience, is maybe a little more prone to fade than Karma or Solar. It has a creamier consistency. The color is hard to describe. It is completely gorgeous and shimmery, and looks more brown on me than I’ve heard described. I think this is one that would look good on anyone. I’m looking forward to seeing what your impression of it is.

    • Magnetic sounds like a great color, so we will see if it is going to be too creamy for my oily eye lids. The RMS Un-powder should be able to help me with that. I will keep you posted on how it goes. ;)

As always thank you for your comment!

I second Rebecca’s comment! I also find Magnetic more creamier whereas Karma and Solar are on the ‘drier’ sides than the others. I love my Magnetic, it’s my most favourite colour from RMS cream eyeshadows. And my second one would be Seduce! :)

  • Well I love the solar eyeshadow and find that they do last well on me, karma is on my list. Love the photos, what mascara are you wearing in these? Xx

    • Hi Tammy, I used the Josie Maran Volumizing Mascara, and curled my lashes very well to get more length. Please let me know if you try Karma, and if you like that one too. xx

  • i have “magnetic” and while i LOVE the color, i have creasing issues, too. i have not yet tried setting powder, though, so i’m still going to experiment with it. this color is lovely on you!

    • Thank you Kim! Have you tried the RMS Un-Powder yet? That one makes a huge difference to me. It makes all makeup stay on longer and better.

I use the uncover-up 22 concealer. If you do not like dewy affect then I do not recommend any of the RMS facial products. I use this under my eyes and over my eye lids due to hereditary dark eye sockets. This does crease, but RMS claims for this effect and that is why I still respect and love this line because of their honesty. I also have the lip to cheek in promise and I love it. Again it has a dewy affect but very natural. The color is dark salmon pink, it would suit anyone with light-medium to dark complexion. I have yellow undertone and it looks amazing with my complexion.
