One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder

One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder Review

As you may have read on my Facebook page, One Love Organics has launched a Summer Skin Collection that includes a dry shampoo. I plan to pick up more products from this Limited Edition Collection, but the Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder was the one product I rushed for the very minute that the collection went live. I wanted to share my first impressions about it, as the products are limited edition and as I have heard, are flying off the shelves!

Let’s start with the formula. The formula was especially designed to help our hair to stay healthy during Summer when we all tend to wash our hair more frequently and frequent hair washes can be quite damaging. It includes the effective oil absorbent, Georgia Kaolin Clay. Not only does it absorb the excess oil on the scalp, but it also absorbs odors. That makes it perfect for post-gym use, when you do not have time to wash your hair right away, but want to get rid of not so pleasant odors. The formula also features Hyaluronic Acid to soften hair and not allow the scalp to get dry until your next wash. Silica-rich, Bamboo Extract (Bambusa) is a strengthening ingredient that is helpful for weak/brittle hair. While looking up these ingredients, I actually learned that Silica is one of the most beneficial ingredients for our hair health because our body levels of silica tend to deplete with aging (and be replaced by calcium). Who knew?

Next, let’s talk about the scent. Suzanne LeRoux definitely has a talent for designing scents because this dry shampoo smells really, really good. I don’t know exactly how to describe it, but I think that smells very clean and fresh. Surprisingly, there are no fruity/flowery notes to it, but a plain, lovely clean scent. The fragrance is not made with synthetic ingredients, but with natural and organic fragrance compounds. I don’t find it to be too strong and I think that even if you were sensitive to scents you should not have any problems with this product.

As for the application, I simply sprinkle a tiny amount of powder on my scalp and let it sit there. I have learned my lesson with the Lulu Organics Hair Powder that dry shampoo powders need to sit on your scalp for a few minutes before you brush your hair. Give it some time to absorb the oils and refresh the scalp and you will definitely notice a significant lift at the roots. I used to comb/brush my hair right after dry shampoo powder application and that did not work. Give it some time to work the magic; one to two minutes should be enough.

I have been using Healthy Locks for a few days and I am totally sold on it. Some days I get quite lazy about washing my hair and Healthy Locks has definitely tempted me to skip shampooing for just another day. Now if only we could convince Suzanne to make it part of the One Love Organics permanent collection! In the meanwhile, I will stock up. You can find it at The Detox Market. I recommend grabbing some of these Summer goodies before they’re gone.

**Update**

Due to popular demand, Healthy Locks is now part of the One Love Organics permanent collection (woohoo!), and is also available in a bigger size. Click here to find it.

Even if we actually needed silica supplementation (which we don’t), how would its external application to hair strands make a difference?

    • Hi Mady, thank you for the interesting question! I will turn it to the company so that they can respond.

      • Mady

I’m guessing it’s in there just to absorb moisture
