Monthly Favorites: July 2013

Monthly Favorites July

The July favorites list would have been way too long (and difficult to fit in a photo) had I not omitted my favorite skincare products of the month, (not much has changed since last month anyway: Aurelia Miracle CleanserMarie Veronique Organics Mist+OilPai Eye Cream..). With that said, here are my beauty bests for July:

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Desired Glow*  – This is the newest addition to my makeup collection and it is already a favorite of mine. I mentioned this blush in my recent post about my favorite bronzers and I have been using it daily. You just cannot go wrong with a dewy, subtle tan look during Summer and this is the perfect blush to achieve that look.

Kjaer Weis Mascara – I have already raved about this mascara many times and the more I use it, the more I like it. I am also getting more comfortable with the brush and I think that I have learned to get the best use out of it. I find that curling, applying one coat of mascara, and (after it dries) giving a gentle extra squeeze with the curler makes the lashes look defined and stay curled all day. You can read my full review here.

RMS Un-powder – Not sure how I would have made it through this Summer had I not purchased this powder. I would have been frustrated with my skin looking oily for sure! Don’t get me wrong, I love radiant skin, but you can definitely tell the difference between dewy and shiny and thanks to this powder I no longer have trouble keeping the excess oil under control.

Osmia Organics Deodorant* – This creamy deodorant is so gentle and effective. It works really great at preventing bad smells and it has a subtle clean, lavender scent (that I love! Osmia makes the best smelling products!) I apply it even right after shaving and this is the first deodorant I have tried that does not irritate my skin at all. It has become staple in my Summer beauty bag.

Sheswai Nail Lacquer in For Real – I already wrote about this nail polish and you can read about it here. This is the most interesting pale shade of nail polish that I have seen. It is a beige color that has some pink in it. The formula is outstanding and every time that I have done my nails this month I have instinctively picked this bottle . Pictures do not do it justice: this is an incredibly beautiful, modern shade.

Afterglow Mineral Foundation in Tan* – I do not use foundation every day, but when I want to even out my skin tone and do not feel like layering sticky products on my face (it is still so warm and humid here!), I reach for this one. I like that it does not make the skin look dry like many other powder foundations and it contains Mica, so it gives that slightly luminous finish that is perfect for Summer. It also has an SPF of 20, so it is a great option for light, daytime coverage.

Coola Sunscreen* – I like this sunscreen so much and the fact that it has a matte finish makes it even better. Also, it glides on my face so smoothly compared to other sunscreens (physical sunscreens can be quite painful to apply, can’t they?). Therefore, even though this one contains dimethicone, which I would rather go without, I have not found any other product that works so well for me during Summer and I only use it maybe a few days every week. This is definitely one product that I would call a guilty pleasure.

What were your beauty favorites of July?

  • Been thinking a lot about RMS Un Powder. How would you compare it to something like a bareMinerals Mineral Veil or other translucent mineral powder finishing powder? I have two pots to get through before I purchase another and wondering what the main differences are!

    • Hi Kim, the un-powder is translucent loose powder, (looks white in the pot but it does not look white on the skin) that keeps you matte all day. No visible particles, no shimmer. I have never tried anything like it, although some people compare it to the Make Up For Ever HD setting powder. They are both made with 100% silica. I know you tend to get a bit oily, so I think that you would love it too. You only need the tiniest amount to get your skin completely matte, it’s amazing! :)

      • Perfect! Sold. :) I was wondering about the white color and whether it would transfer // make me look white. I am excited to get this! Thanks for the quick response ;) xoxo

        • You’re very welcome, I am sure you will like it. Just remember that you need to apply less powder than you would normally apply. I use a small setting brush (you know the small setting brush from Real Techniques and EcoTools? One of those) and I pick up a very small amount, then I also tap excess powder, and then I finally apply it only on the areas of my face that get oily. It’s not one of those powders that you go in with a large fluffy brush, swirl to get a nice amount, an then go all over your face. Let me know if you try it, I would love to know how it works for you :)

  • Sheswai packaging is super cute, finally got some kjaer weis, I can see why you like it so much :)

    • Glad you like Kjaer Weis too! What did you get? :)

Sheswai does look cute in the bottle, but the formulation is just as great ;)

      • Will try to get hold of sheswai at some point, it isn’t in uk yet… I got the eye shadow in cloud nine and the lip tint in passionate, already want to buy more eye shadows, and mascara is also on the list :)

        • Please share a photo of you wearing the Passionate Lip Tint :)

          • I did a post yesterday with it on my lips :)

          • I just saw it, I love that color! it looks great on you :) x

    Hi Lilly,
My favorite for July would be the Aurelia cell revitalise night moisturiser. I’ve finished the sample i had, so just bougth it yesterday! I love the smell so much, and i am convinced it is really good for my skin!
I have also started to use the Juice Beauty antioxidant serum. I am already really impressed by this serum, only one week of use.

    • Hi Melanie, I am a huge fan of Aurelia Skincare. I have liked the Miracle Cleanser so much that I definitely plan on trying more from their line. The night moisturiser is definitely one of the products that I would like to try next ;) Thanks for sharing your favorites! xx

Lovely favorites. Have you tried the Soapwalla deodorant cream? I am curious how you would compare it to the Osmia. Also totally love the Kjaer Weis mascara and counting down the days until my cheek acne scars are healed so I can try some of Kjaer Weis’s beautiful blushes and bronzers.

    • Hi Jayebirdi, I am sorry, but I have not used the Soapwalla deodorant cream, so I cannot tell you how the two would compare. As for the mascara, I am very glad that you are enjoying it too! Such a great product! Everything I have tried from Kjaer Weis is absolutely stunning. I am sure you will enjoy the blushes too, but please share your opinion when you try them, I would love to know what you think :)

    Hello again Lilly,
I forgot to mention that one of my favorite lately is the Soapwalla cream deodorant! It works really well even when hot weather.
And, finally, i have really enjoyed the Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex, i think it will become a must have.

    Hey Lilly!

I love Seshwai nail polishes (although I don’t use nail polishes anymore). They are the best nail polishes I have ever tried, beats everything else. 1 coat delivers such an amazing pigmentation! They don’t have lots of colours but = less confusion :p. I have read your review of For Real shade, love it.

I love me some Kjaer Weis cream blushes too! (and love the finish of their lip tints).

A great line of July favourites!
