This past Mother’s Day, Lina Hanson launched a new Global Serum. However, instead of creating another beautifully scented serum, Lina focused on developing a scent-free, soothing and protecting formula for the delicate skin of babies, small children, and expectant mothers.
The Global Baby Serum* features plant oils that have been ethically sourced from all over the world. The star oil in the blend is the Kalahari Oil (also called Watermelon Seed Oil, harvested by women’s cooperatives in West Africa). This oil is packed with essential fatty acids and provides a great amount of moisture, minus the greasiness. Since it absorbs faster than other plant oils it is the optimal choice not only for babies, but also for people who do not fair well with oily textured products.
Upon application the serum has an oily consistency, but in a matter of seconds it is completely absorbed and leaves the skin soft and richly moisturized. It is most effective when applied to wet or damp skin because it seals in the moisture and makes the skin feel as smooth as a baby’s bottom. However, I have also been applying it on my skin when it is not wet because it is comfortable and not greasy, (it’s a lovely hand treatment!)
With the Global Baby Serum being free of essential oils, it is not only a safe option for babies (it is highly recommended for cradle cap and baby massage), but for the bellies of expecting mamas as well, making an excellent treatment for stretch-mark prevention (and to help the belly skin stay elastic after giving birth). The ingredients are simple but effective, and only include oils that are known to be completely safe and very gentle for the delicate skin of little ones.
citrullus vulgaris (watermelon) seed oil, carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, camellia oleifera (camellia) seed oil*, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, non-gmo tocopherol.
*Certified Organic. Free of Essentials Oils and Nut Oils.
Although I am in love with the heavenly scent of Lina Hanson’s Global Body Serum and it is on my “restock asap” list, I am actually going to get myself more Global Baby Serum as well. For its price, this is a luxury blend of oils and is perfect for times when I am not in the mood for scented products (like before cooking a meal! Who needs to smell exotic before serving dinner?). I cannot wait until someone in my circle of friends and family gets pregnant so that I can gift them with one of these! You can find it at Lina Hanson and Spirit Beauty Lounge.
