Kahina Fez Hand and Body Balm

Kahina FEZ Hand & Body Balm

Kahina Fez Balm Review

I was absolutely over the moon when I heard that Kahina was launching a balm with the same scent as the FEZ Body Serum, (one of my Summer Beauty Essentials), which I enjoyed so much that it did not make it ’til the end of Summer. FEZ is earthy & warm, yet uplifting & calming all at the same time. However, the scent is not the only reason why I love this body balm: it also features some of my favorite ingredients for calming and repairing the skin.

The highly concentrated formula of Fez Hand and Body Balm* includes ingredients that deeply moisturize and soften the skin like carrot seed oil, shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and mango nut butter. To that, Kahina also added high concentrations of Argan Oil, which provides Vitamin E that contributes to the elasticity and softness of the skin. Most importantly, the balm contains calendula, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory, skin-healing ingredient that I love for my facial skin care as well

With this balm, a little amount goes a long way. I use less than one finger scoop to moisturize my hands, arms, shoulders and even apply some on my neck, as a solid perfume. While it is made with oils and butters, it (surprisingly) does not leave the skin greasy at all. I can get dressed after applying it without feeling like my clothes are going to get greasy and stick to my skin.

Fez’s scent is inspired by the sacred Imperial city of Fez, Morocco and it is a unique, intoxicating, and exotic scent. As such, it is not for everyone. If you like spicy, woodsy, and herbaceous scents, you will fall for it. Otherwise, you may want to sample first. Notes include Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Pink Grapefruit and Yling Ylang, with lingering hints of cumin and clove. If you have ever visited North Africa’s countries like Egypt and Morocco, it will quickly take your senses back there. While it does linger for a a few hours, it gradually looses some of its “punchy-ness” and leaves a softer scent on the skin for a few hours.

My favorite uses for this balm are as an overnight hand & cuticle treatment; bed-time aromatherapy treatment; and as abody balm for any dry spots like elbows and knees. The last thing I have been doing at night before going to sleep is to reach for this pretty jar, massage my hands, nails, and cuticles and sniff until I am completely relaxed and ready to turn off my brain. At $48, it is definitely a lush treat, but one that I will not mind spending the extra cash on because  I love the formula and scent so much.

You can find it at The Detox Market.
