January + February Favorites 2014

February 2014 Favorites Genuine Glow Kahina Argan Oil, MV Skincare, Waxelene, Kjaer Weis Lip Tint, Priti NYC Soy Polish Remover, One Love Organics Cleansing Oil

Due to the lack of a post featuring my favorite products of January, I smashed both January and February favorites in this post. I have shopped for some Spring-y makeup (more posts about it coming soon) and repurchased certain tried and true products that I cannot be without. My major skin concern has been sensitivity and I have occasionally gotten quite spotty, especially when I ran out of my Argan oil. Makeup-wise, I have been really into bronzers and purchased a few new ones, because as you may have noticed in my Orange Lipstick Trend post, I am running pretty pale lately and have not gotten the chance to boost my Vitamin D in a while!

A few repurchases.

Kahina’s Argan Oil – I am still loving this face oil. It keeps my skin looking so healthy. I took a little break from it to try another product and I got spotty immediately. So I went back to using it and in two days my skin was clear again. That is self-explanatory.

Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Cleansing Oil/Makeup Remover, (read post here). This is my third bottle and I might subscribe for a refill program at this point. I just can’t see myself using anything else to remove my makeup, especially when I wear more than usual. It just makes it so easy and quick compared to any other oil. I am planning to try more ED4OLO, so please tell me, what’s your favorite ED4OLO product? I am undecided between the face mist and the eye balm. Please leave your suggestions below. Also, many of you ladies from the motherland have asked me if ED4OLO products will be available in the UK and the founder of One Love Organics, Suzanne, has told me that the answer is yes. Just be patient a little longer. It is well worth the wait, I promise!

Waxelene – I am so glad that I restocked some of this. I have a nasty cold at the moment and this is what I am applying every night around my nose (my nostrils are so irritated and red , they look like they’re on fire) and on my lips, which are feeling awfully dry. When I wake up in the morning my skin looks 100 time better than when I got in bed. This balm is so so effective and so inexpensive. I highly recommend throwing one in your purse, especially if you have dry skin/lips. Read my review here.

Jane Iredale Pencil Crayon (previously called Lip Definer) in Spice. You can definitely tell by the size of my old one how much I liked this lip pencil. The shade is just such a natural looking, lip-matching color that it allows me to correct my lip shape where needed (like my faded contour in some spots due to childhood injuries = face plants). The consistency is absolutely perfect. It is creamy enough to not be too harsh on the lips, yet it is hard enough not to smudge. It is just perfect.

Winks by Georgie Lash Adhesive. Not being very gifted in the lash department, I often reach for a few small individual faux lashes. This formaldehyde-free lash glue dries transparent and lasts all day!

New favorites.

MV Skincare Oxygen Formula Moisturiser*. I cannot say enough good things about the MV SKincare products that I have tried so far and this one may be my new favorite. The formula is very similar to the Rose Soothing and Protecting Moisturiser, which I planned to restock once it was gone. However, I find that this one gives a little extra something to my skin that makes it look even better and it works just as great under makeup as a primer. It is very hydrating and moisturizing, but leaves no greasy residue. Seriously, MV Skincare’s formulations are outstanding, and in my opinion completely justify their outstanding price tags.

Priti Soy Polish Remover. After trying this I can finally say that I will never go back to conventional nail polish remover. It is oil-based, smells like citrus fruit, and does an excellent job at removing any nail polish. I wrote a little more about Priti NYC here.

Kjaer Weis Lip Tint in Dream State. No matter how much my lipstick collection grows this is still my go-to for natural looking, nude lips. I just dab some over my lips after filling them with the Jane Iredale pencil in Spice. It is a sheer peachy-nude shade that leaves just a hint of shine.

i have really dry lips and nothing worked this winters..tried lot of balms..so disappointed and as usual i love reading your posts

    • Hi Anusha, thank you for always being so kind and supportive. What have you tried so far? A few lip balms I have been pleased with are Waxelene, S.W. Basics, and the Rallye Balm by Red Apple Lipstick. Have you tried any of these? x

  • Oooh that polish remover sounds very interesting. I am growing increasingly worried about whatever is in the regular polish removers, whether they contain acetone or not. I might just have to give this one a try!

    • Hi Christine, I hope you do give it a try because it is really awesome! More expensive than other nail polish removers, but totally worth the price in my opinion. I can’t stand the harsh scent of conventional ones. Please let me know what you think if you give it a go! x

  • Mademoiselle nature

Really need to try MVO products then…you have convinced me:-))))! x

    • Let me know how you like their products! ;) xx

  • Wonderlusting

I’m expecting a delivery of Waxelene soon so can’t wait to try that and keep reading amazing things about the Elizabeth Dehn cleaning oil. My faves have been Pai cleanser, Aesop Damascene rose oil and RMS lip2cheek which I think I’ve worn every single day this year!

    • Hi! Let me know how you like Waxelene! I think it’s awesome! Which RMS lip2cheek are you loving? I like Smile ;) x

      • Wonderlusting

        Yes I’ve got Smile :))

  • fern

How do you use the argan oil? Do you use it in the morning, at night, or both? I love that lip tint in dream state, too – good for all occasions!

    • Hi Fern, I use it only at night after cleansing and spraying my face with a mist. In the morning I use the MV Skincare moisturiser, which is perfect under makeup. I don’t usually opt for face oils in the morning because my hair is fine, straight and flat, so I try not to add oily products near my hair line. I need every little bit of volume I can get in my hair!

I cannot wait to try out the ED4OLO cleansing oil, thought of ordering it from the US but that is not really gentle to nature so I will wait ok :( By the way, Lilly, I have just recently discovered your blog and I really like it, good luck and enjoy the weekend! X Hana

    • Thank you so much, Hana! I will make sure to let you guys know when the cleansing oil becomes available in Europe ;)

Have a wonderful weekend as well! xx

      • Laura

Oh yes please! I am waiting for it too…! Xx

  • I LOVE the ED4OLO Eye Balm. Love it! I swear it makes my eye bags less puffy. :) I totally want to try that cleansing oil. Must order soon!

    • Sold! I will get some Eye Balm then ;) I am sure you will love the cleansing oil! <3

  • roshkud

I need the priti soy polish remover, nail varnish remover usually makes my nail beds ache and I hope that the Priti one doesn’t. Hope I can get it in the UK! :)

    Roshni’s Journey

  • Gahhh that ED4OLO MU remover is taunting me — I’ve been reading so many good things about it! Great picks this month. I’m dying to try a lip liner from Jane Iredale now!

  • Ana Green

That photo and your choices are just gorgeous! :) Xx

  • Sydney

Hi Lilly :) I’ve tried all the ED4OLO products and my absolute favorite (besides the cleansing oil) is the moisture mist. I had no idea that a mist could do so much- It was so good at balancing and calming my irritated, combination skin. I feel like once summer rolls around it will be the perfect light moisturizer.

  • karen calladine

I am very excited to hear we will finally get those Elizabeth Dehn products in the UK :)

  • I’ve heard only but raving reviews for MV Organics’ products. The Oxygen Formula Moisturizer sounds beautiful!

  • juliet

I have never called a product Holy Grail, but I think I would say that about the ED4OLO cleansing oil! I also have the eye balm and love it for at night. It leaves my under eye area too shiny for the day. I’ve also been using the eye balm around my nose (like you’ve been doing w/ Waxelene) and it helps SO much! To be honest, I was really worried that the balm was going to leave me with milia under the eye, but it’s been over a month and my under eye has less little bumps! It’s good stuff!

  • Do you get confused between MV Organics and Marie Veronique Organics (aka MVO) or am I the only one? MV Organics does sound like a wonderful line. I’ve only read rave reviews. Currently I’m overloaded with products but I’ll have to consider when I have a few empties. ED4OLO products all smell delicious. I’m not wild about balms around my eyes (a bit too heavy and tend to migrate toward eye creating bags in the a.m.), but the Vitamin D mist is awesome! Love your picks :-) xo
