December Favorites

December Favorites 2014

It’s time (well kind of, I am bit late, I know) to line up this past month’s very best. In case you missed the last few posts, my husband and I recently bought a house and we just moved in a few days ago. As you can imagine it has been a busy, stressful time, and we did not even have proper holidays celebrations. I actually spent NYE and the whole countdown thing cleaning my new bathroom (how glamorous! but this is real life, right?). I may have gotten a bit frustrated over my Instagram feed full of glammed-up snapshots while I was scrubbing my bath tub toilet, but December was a special month anyway. I am very excited to finally have significantly more space to organize my product collection, a studio/office to decorate, and outdoor space to finally grow flowers…

Okay, let’s chat about beauty stuff.

YULI Halcyon Cleanser. It is safe to say that I love this facial cleanser. It’s funny how I went from occasionally using it to, I can’t be without it. This is my second bottle (almost empty btw), and I will purchase it again. My skin has been doing so well lately that I don’t see a good reason to change the products I am using now. Yes, I am always curious about trying new products, but I won’t change cleanser any time soon. I have even used it to remove my (light) makeup a few times. It was just foundation and mascara, but Halcyon did remove everything properly. Find here.

YULI Mr. Incredible*. I have been using oils to prep my skin before shaving for quite a while, but this shave oil is a different story. Not only does it create a silky smooth layer over the skin for the blades to effortlessly glide over, but it also prevents irritations (it contains several anti-inflammatory ingredients) and it smells so good, (quite herbal, in the best way possible). It is definitely a luxury option, but if you can afford it/if you want to treat yourself/your man. It is an excellent product and makes shaving a much more pleasant activity. Find here.

Meow Meow Tweet Grapefruit Deodorant. I am so happy with this deodorant cream. The texture is soft and smooth, so it applies quickly and easily. I just pick a pea size for each armpit and cover the whole area. It keeps me from smelling bad all day long. I still carry the Citrus Natural Deodorant spray from Blissoma in my bag, so just in case I want to refresh myself, I do one spritz on each pit and I am good to go. Did I mention that Meow Meow Tweet Grapefruit deodorant is baking soda-free? Find here.

Osmia Organics Hand Creams (not pictured). I have thrown away all of my empty packaging before moving, but the Osmia Organics hand creams were definitely a favorite of mine throughout the entire month. The two scents available are both lovely, but I slightly prefer Linden Rose. My hands were doing great until I ran out of my last tube of this cream. A coincidence? I don’t think so. I will buy more and more (and more!). Find here.

Waxelene. During Winter, Waxelene is one of my must haves. From moisturizing lips and moisturize hands to soothing irritated dry skin, it is the one multitasking balm that I am never without. It works great and it is very inexpensive compared to any other balm I own. You can read more about it here.

Poppy Jane Co. Candles. The mister and I have heavily relied on the scent “Breathe Deep” (and opening windows) to help with funky smells still lingering at the house. It is very uplifting and refreshing, without being overpowering. It contains non-GMO soy, wax, and beeswax, so it lasts longer than candles that contain soy wax only. Find here.

Green Pastures Fermented Cod Liver Oil+Butter Oil. After going through two jars of this supplement I can totally say that it does help my skin. I am not going to attempt a detailed medical explanation, but I think that it may have supplied nutrients to my body that benefit the skin, such as Vitamin A & D. My skin has been unusually clear for quite a while, even though I have been tired and stressed out. I think that this supplement is the main reason for my good skin month. Find here.

Gressa Corrective Serum Foundation. The more I use this foundation, the more I love it, and I cannot find anything I don’t like about it, (maybe the price, I guess? I don’t even care how much it costs…). I have taken photos to show you a before and after in my upcoming review and I am sure you will agree with me that this stuff rocks. Worth every single $ and will definitely buy more when I run out of it. I highly recommend it, especially if you don’t like wearing foundation because of the feeling of foundation on the skin. This one feels like you are wearing a skincare product–a serum, but with a good coverage. I don’t even wear concealer when I wear this foundation. Find here.

Alima Sombra Contour Powder. I have been barely using any makeup this month, but when I did, I always used this bronzing powder to warm up my paler skin. If you have never heard of it, check out my review here. I have been using it for quite a while, and it is the only bronzer I have used ever since I bought it. Being that it is a loose powder I have not even used up a quarter of the jar, so it is also a great investment, dollar-wise. Find here.

Ilia Beauty Lipstick Perfect Day. I have not been wearing much makeup throughout the month of December, but when I did it was just the Gressa foundation, some mascara, and a lip color. I wore Funnel Of Love and Perfect Day more than any other lip colors. Funnel Of love is my go-to, peachy-nude, every day lipstick, but Perfect Day is the one lip color that makes me look more alive and healthy whenever I am very tired and a bit pale (like now). It’s a warm, coral-y red. It makes me look like I put a lot more effort into getting ready than I actually did. Find here.
