Catch-Up #41 (I’m back!)

Catch-Up #41

I’m back, and I hope you all had a great official start of Summer. On top of being busy as usual, my in-laws came to visit us from out of state, so I took some time off to hang out with them. I have a few things to share and SO much coming next, so let’s get to it…

A couple additions. I did not use a conditioner for at least two years because my hair was doing just fine without it, and since I have very fine hair I try to use the least amount of product on it to prevent it from weighing down. However lately my hair has become very difficult to comb through after each wash (possibly because I dyed it two months ago). I had gone through a few samples of the Rahua Voluminous Conditioner and it worked very well in combination with the Rahua Voluminous Shampoo, so I got a bottle, and I am enjoying it. I still get volume after each wash. I only use a small amount throughout the length of my hair without putting any product on my scalp, and I find that it does not weigh down my hair. If you have fine hair that needs volume, Rahua Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner, although on the expensive side, are definitely worth giving a shot. You can check it out here.

Another thing I bought, despite having plenty of neutral eyeshadows, is the newly launched Kjaer Weis eyeshadow in the shade Grace. I just used it today for the first time and I was like “WOW, it’s my perfect lid color” (even better than Charmed). It’s a light, matte but not chalky, neutral brown with a satin finish. I am typing this at night, but tomorrow morning I’ll do some comparison swatches with the other Kjaer Weis shades so you can get a better idea of the color (maybe an FOTD?). I don’t think it would show up well on darker skin tones, but anyone from fair to medium would get a lot of use from it. Very happy with my purchase: great quality eyeshadow, versatile color. I bought a refill here.

Summer glow. It’s no surprise that in Summer I like to step up my glow game a bit, and besides using bronzing products, I like to use highlighters and body products that give a good sheen. My latest discovery is the Jane Iredale Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion*. Now, being called shimmer, I expected it to be a little over the top, but it turned out to be completely wearable and gorgeous. The shimmer is actually shimmer and not giant, loud pieces of glitter. While this is more suited for an evening look,  it can be dabbed on the cheekbones as highlighter. For a more subtle daytime glow, under foundation (in the same way Lisa Eldridge applies the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector and the Lancome Eclat Miracle in her tutorials). By applying it under foundation the highlight shows up more subtle and effortless, as if you were glowing from within. The only thing I am not sure of is if it would suit undertones that are more cool. You can found it here. I am thinking that I could maybe do an FOTD post with all of my new makeup goodies. Spoiler: this highlighter works amazing when worn with the new Kjaer Weis Bronzer, Dazzling*.

Thoughtfully Magazine new issue. Oh my, where do I even begin?! I have been a huge fan of Thoughtfully Magazine since issue #1, because it has the most relevant, enjoyable content: green beauty, healthy eating, eco-conscious apparel, and so much more. I truly could not feel more honored about having taken part in a beauty story for the Summer issue. The story is called Summer Daze and features beautiful, sustainable clothing and green beauty brands. The digital version of the new issue is currently available for download on thoughtfullymag.com, but it will also be available in print at all Whole Foods and Natural Grocers in America, at the official website, and at The Detox Market.

Petit Vour June Box. I have not tried everything yet, but this month’s Petit Vour box* was a good one! I was quite impressed with the Fior Minerals Organic Eyeliner. It is very pigmented, not too creamy, not too hard, and lasts pretty good. I received the color Brown Sugar, which is a beautiful dark brown with just a hint of shimmer. The box also contains the Jaq’s Organics Green Smoothie Face Mask, (using it tonight for the first time as my weekly pamper treatment), the Meow Meow Tweet Face Cleanser, and a 100% Pure face brush. You can shop Petit Vour June box here.

Now that family is gone I will return to more regular posting. If you sent me an email and did not receive a reply, feel free to tweet me or leave me a comment. I have a really hard time keeping up with emails, but I will be more than happy to search for your email and reply if you let me know! Thank you for your patience :) Talk soon!
