Agent Nateur No 3 Deodorant (holi)stick

Agent Nateur Deo

I have been using the Agent Nateur No 3 Deodorant for a month now, so I wanted to report how it has been working for me. I know that finding an effective, “natural” deodorant is a bit of a challenge for most people — it surely has been for me. When I first saw this deodorant I was intrigued by the scent description (I love Eucalyptus) and by the fact that it comes in a stick, because my previous favorite deodorant comes in a jar and has a creamy texture that requires finger application. Not a big issue for me, but certainly not as convenient as a stick.

The Agent Nateur has a completely different formula. It has a base of coconut oil, which has skin soothing properties (studies¹ have shown that it promotes the healing of wounds), moisturizing², and anti-microbial³ properties as well. It also contains baking soda–but wait! For some reasons, with this deodorant I have not experienced any sensitivity at all. I have been using other baking soda-based deodorants before, and while I could use them with no issues on days when I did not shave my armpits, I could not use them on freshly-shaved pits. They would sting and irritate my skin. I can use Agent Nateur deodorant as soon as I am done shaving with no issues, possibly because of the soothing blend of ingredients, which also includes sunflower and avocado butters. If you are very sensitive to baking soda, however, you may want to spot-test first (you can order a sample size here).

This is the complete list of ingredients:

coconut oil*, sodium bicarbonate, beeswax, sunflower butter, avocado butter, castor oil, raw organic honey, lavender essential oil, hydrogen peroxide, eucalyptus oil, love. *Certified Organic

The scent is light and pleasant. It smells like Eucalyptus and Honey–fresh and slightly sweet. Lavender is also listed in the ingredients, but I cannot really smell it. As I mentioned a month ago when I first started to use it, I wish that the scent was a bit stronger. I think that it is mild enough for the most delicate noses, unless you are sensitive specifically to Eucalyptus. The scent does not linger, so about an hour or two from the application I can no longer smell the deodorant’s scent.

One thing that I love about the Agent Nateur deodorant is that it does not stain dark clothes. I can wear a black top (which accounts for 90% of my wardrobe) with no risk of getting white stains in the armpit areas. Most cream deodorants, unfortunately, do stain dark clothing. With those, I have to apply them after getting dressed (I sneak my hand inside my top and apply carefully), which helps with preventing stains. However, a stain-free deodorant is definitely a more convenient option.

As for the performance, I find that this deodorant does the job for me. At the end of a long day, I no longer smell as great as after the inital application, but I do not smell bad either. I think that anyone who has a very active lifestyle or struggles with bad body odor may not find this deodorant to be strong enough, but everyone else should have a better experience. I still have plenty of Agent Nateur deodorant left, and I plan on repurchasing. I just hope that they will develop a deodorant with a slightly more intense scent. Something that lingers a bit longer.

UPDATE: I tried the new (holi)rose and (holi)man Agent Nateur Deodorant

Since I wrote this post a little over a year ago, my prayers were answered and Agent Nateur launched two new deodorant scents: Nº4 (holi)rose and Nº5 (holi)man. The formulas are almost identical (coconut oil, baking soda, beeswax, sunflower butter, avocado butter, castor oil), but they have different scents.

Deodorant Nº4 (holi)rose was created in collaboration with Shiva Rose. It has the most beautiful, intoxicating scent from a blend of rose and sandalwood. The scent is also more intense than the original deodorant (Nº3) and I find that it lingers longer and not only it keeps me from smelling bad, but it actually makes my armpits smell like roses all day (no exaggeration). Even on hormonal days. Out of the three Agent Nateur deodorants, (and out of all the deodorants I have tried), this is my favorite one and the one I will keep using. I got it here.

Deodorant Nº5 (holi)man is the newest and is a unisex scent. I had actually bought it for my husband as soon as it launched, but after I opened and smelled it I decided to keep it for myself. Like with the original Agent Nateur I find that this one keeps me from smelling bad, but the scent fades throughout the day. It’s a warmer and woodsy (vetiver, sandalwood, cerdarwood). Although I love the scent, I will go back to Nº4 (holi)rose when it’s finished.

Agent Nateur can be purchased at The Detox Market (here), and at LeVert Beauty (here — use code GG10 to save 10% on any LeVert Beauty purchase). Please leave a comment if you have any questions. If you have tried the Agent Nateur deodorant, I would love to know how it worked for you.
