If you remember my last skincare update, I recently joined the facial oils enthusiasts and truly started to appreciate the benefits of facial oils/serums on my combination skin. I have already mentioned one of my favorite facial oils in my latest skincare routine post and today I am going to talk to you about the latest addition to my collection: a balancing serum made by a young and committed brand called Osmia Organics.
The Facial Calibration Serum* is specifically formulated for normal, combination, and oily skin. The serum contains Schisandra fruit extract, macadamia oil, and super emollient kukui (kukui oil was used by Hawaiians to treat their royals with massages, how luxurious!). Schisandra is widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine because it is known to resist infections and increase skin health, amongst other benefits. To these exotic ingredients, also add my beloved rosehip oil, which provides intense reparative and rejuvenating effects. With all of these good ingredients, this serum could not be anything less than great!
I have been using this serum mostly in daytime because I like the silky/velvety finish that it leaves on the skin. It moisturizes the skin nicely and gives a pretty glow to the complexion, without actually looking greasy. My only concern when I first tried it was the shea oil in it, but I have not experienced any breakouts at all. As for the application, I use it like I would with any other facial oil/serum: I damp my face with a facial mist (or a light spritz of purified water), and while my face is still damp, I pat the serum into my skin. Then I let it sink into my skin before applying any makeup. It takes a little bit for the skin to absorb it, but once that occurs, the skin feels really great.

caprylic/capric triglyceride (fractionated coconut oil), olive squalane, aleurites molaccana (kukui) oil, carthamus tinctorius (safflower) oil*, macadamia integrifolia (macadamia nut) oil*, rosa rubiginosa (rosehips) seed oil*, vitus vinifera (grapeseed) oil*, wildcrafted butyrospermum parkii (shea) oil, schisandra sphenanthera (schisandra fruit) CO2, euterpe oleracea (acai) oil, nigella sativa (black seed) oil*, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) CO2 extract*, GMO-free vitamin E oil, and a proprietary blend of organic and wild-harvested essential oils
The texture (shown in the photo above) is runny, and a few pumps are enough for both face and neck. I also love the way this serum smells. It has a herbaceous, but not overpowering scent that is a tad spicy. I have not tried any Osmia perfumes, but if they smell anything like this serum they must be wonderful!
